How to Deliver Bad News Without Sounding Like a Villain

May 3, 2025

Workshop Vol.4 with Fernando Edo

Delivering difficult news is one of the most challenging parts of communication. It requires not only clarity, but also empathy, emotional awareness, and the ability to remain respectful in uncomfortable situations. Through this networking and sharing session, participants were invited to explore how difficult messages can be delivered in a way that is honest, thoughtful, and humane.

As part of the communication pillar of Public Speaking 101, this session highlighted the importance of structure, tone, and intention when navigating sensitive conversations. Participants were encouraged to see that delivering unfavorable news does not have to damage trust or relationships when it is done with care, clarity, and compassion.

More than learning how to speak in difficult moments, this session offered a practical perspective on how professionals can communicate with firmness while still preserving their humanity. It became a meaningful space to reflect on how effective communication is not only about what is said, but also about how it makes others feel.
