Communication = Effort & Environment

This time I want to discuss how someone can have good communication skills to improve themselves and become a superior person.

Seperti judul yang saya tulis kali ini, menggambarkan 2 aspek : manusia dan lingkungan. Kita adalah unik dan penuh dengan problema hidup. Semakin seseorang mengalami banyak masalah akan memiliki tendensi semakin sulit berkomunikasi. Dan karena tidak ada satu manusiapun yang dapat hidup sendiri dan bebas masalah, hendaknya setiap orang berfokus kepada kecermatan memilah-milah masalah yang penting dan tidak penting untuk dipikirkan, agar dapat mengembangkan dirinya atas usaha yang harus dilakukan. Dan tentu lingkungan di mana kita berada akan memberikan pengaruh besar bagaimana kita dapat berubah, menjadi lebih baik, buruk atau stagnan.

In each of our activities in class, these 2 aspects are very related and clearly visible.The more open a person is, the easier it is for him to enter an environment, and vice versa.

Talking about humans will never end.We are easily vulnerable, or we don't move along with various kinds of events in life which can result in someone becoming easily agitated, having difficulty building relationships in communication or becoming stiff/cold/apathetic, making it difficult to connect with their environment.This time, I will discuss in more depth the behavior of humans who are often trapped by their bad traits, such as being egocentric, not having empathy, and often looking down on other people.

Not long ago, in a meeting with a client, a leader expressed his disappointment with his team in front of us.The party who contacted us should have been at this meeting, but instead he was not present.So what he conveyed to us for the implementation of the training was not conveyed according to what the leader wanted.This is certainly not a mistake on our part.Strangely, the leader then asked for a lot of things in the upcoming training with instant results.We say that in every training when the facilitator provides a lot of material and input to the participants, of course a change will result if everyone has a great desire/effort to change, including their communication skills.Even if it is supported by a conducive environment, it will be in line with a person's intention to change.

We conveyed this explanation at the meeting.That every person can change if he wants to change, followed by hard work within himself, and if the environment does not support it, the interest in changing within oneself will become dim because the existing environment does not provide a person with great room for growth.The leader was silent when he heard our explanation.But still insist on instant results.

Apparently, there are still many leaders who expect instant results.The more someone has a high position, the more potential they have for becoming an arrogant leader, imposing opinions, etc.Maybe the situation in our client's office is like this, so that the team below them becomes stressed and frustrated.

When we have chosen to make a change, we should also have the courage to choose the right environment.If the environment in the office is not supportive, full of toxic people, we can stay away from them, only relate professionally and look for a new environment outside of that, to get a healthier environment.

Ketika kita paham bahwa usaha 100% yang kita harus lakukan akan membuat kita menjadi pribadi yang tangguh, cakap dalam membangun hubungan dan berinteraksi. Kita juga akan terus bertumbuh, terus belajar, sehingga otomatis kemampuan komunikasi kita juga akan terus meningkat sejalan dengan tingkat penghargaan diri, emosi, dan lingkungan yang sehat.

Ketika kita sudah memilih untuk berubah, jangan lupa juga sewaktu-waktu melakukan self check akan perubahan harian yang sudah kita rencanakan apakah terlaksana dengan baik agar kita bisa menantiasa mengevaluasi diri dan memberikan penghargaan diri atas perubahan yang sudah kita lakukan.
