From Oneself and It’s YOU!

In a training session with leaders at state-owned banks, which lasted only 3 hours yesterday, I had the opportunity to take part in encouraging the 20 participants to have a more open, less narrow mindset so that they could move this large organization to grow in light of their sales which plummeted last year to below 50%.It is true that the condition of the business world during this pandemic is sad, apart from a small number who are reaping profits, there are many who have declined sharply and even gone out of business. But in China this first semester their economy increased by 20%, whoaaaaa.Yes, some win some loose.Returning to the training, which lasted a short 3 hours, was certainly challenging for me, because there are so many needs that these leaders need to be equipped so that they are more optimistic, more resilient, have a more flexible way of communicating, personal branding, self-confidence that must be revived, and getting to know the person they are talking to with mapping and profiling.I have a lot of homework in a very short time.Remember, gathering such complete bosses is very difficult because their schedules are busy.I even had to revise the material 3x because of it.The plan for 3 hours with three materials, became only 2 materials.
The first 2 hours I focused on emphasizing self-concept which must be re-built with a positive mentality and resilience (resilience) then I moved to self-image where after someone has re-created their self-concept they must be transferred to self-image which will help them relate to all stakeholders.Self concept, self image, social image (stakeholders), self esteem (the ability to appreciate oneself and carry out self evaluation from time to time), self acceptance, namely realizing that no human being in this world is perfect, and we must have self management to develop potential and create new habits. Not to mention we're talking about self-reward, self-discipline, etc. Can you imagine this session lasting 2 hours?I was very focused and sharpened myself into every leader in that class.Meanwhile, with the remaining 1 hour, I have to make them more flexible in communicating.
It is very visible on the faces of these bosses that they immediately become disheveled, crumpled precisely when they focus for 2 hours on themselves.More than 80% of the participants had their eyes glanced to the left on their faces, a sign that they were going back in time to validate what I said in their interactions with everyone in the office and with customers/regulators.A father suddenly asked, "I see that Erwin has been talking a lot about Self...self...self for a long time, does this mean that everything has to start from ourselves first? Not from other people?"
The image of the father's question is very clear, perhaps it is also the same as what crossed your mind when digesting the question. It all comes down to ourselves first, before we are connected to the outside world. What is within us, our strengths, our weaknesses, our challenges, etc. In fact, whoever we are, we have a lot of "wealth" in what we already have.Such as culture, eastern culture, family upbringing, environment, even work/experience.When there is high self-awareness (again SELF) we can mobilize everything we have within ourselves to build harmonious relationships with anyone we meet, even on the social media channels we have.
This ability that everyone already has will help them have the courage to move and always be interested in finding out about the "wealth" that other people have to become new knowledge for our lives.I myself always really like talking to people who have a lot of experience that I don't have, even when I meet generation Z who are currently entering the world of work, there are a lot of ways in which their mindset, the way they interact is not the same as what I experienced when I was their age.And this became interesting for me to learn.Try if we had this mentality, of course the effect would be that every time we meet anyone we will always be enthusiastic about listening to their stories, even to the point of knowing things that disturb their minds living during this pandemic. Finally, we start something positive from the self-concept that we will present to the person we are talking to, whoever they are!And indeed everything ended like the father asked earlier. How we see ourselves and activate ourselves for joyful relationships with everyone.
