MC and Presenter's hobby which finally turned into a job
He first worked at a reinsurance company in 2010 and was immediately assigned to MC an AGM and Cocktail Party event. At that time, the Cocktail Party audience was mostly foreigners.Wow, at that time I was still a fresh graduate and had no experience, what should I do?Immediately confused and nervous.I still have no idea at all. Finally, I asked an office person who had previously been an MC at an office event, what tips &the trick.I remember once making a draft, cutting out cardboard for que cards, choosing clothes that were suitable for the event and making an event schedule.Thank God, the event went smoothly.Apart from that, I have also been entrusted again as MC in the current office. However, I still feel that my abilities as a professional MC are lacking.
As time goes by, I want to know how to become a professional MC/Presenter.Because I thought, could I one day make money by becoming an MC?I like being the center of attention, but if I'm asked to come forward, I'm sometimes still embarrassed to speak.
Every day I can't wait for Saturday to attend the MC class because I want to know what the lesson will be like and I'm curious about the teacher. It turns out that since I attended the class from start to finish, I gained a variety of exciting knowledge such as what an MC should have, interview techniques and the Total Look of a good MC.All the Encounters are interesting and very useful, but my favorite ones are the Encounters about Building the Atmosphere and When Things Gone Bad.Students are taught how to build an atmosphere according to the theme of the event. For example, we are entrusted with being the MC of a music festival.First of all, we have to know whether the audience is young or not, who are the supporting bands, who are the sponsors, who are the bands they are most looking forward to, and the most important thing is that we have to be able to build the enthusiasm of the audience so that they remain enthusiastic and enjoy watching their favorite band's performance.
This class also teaches us how we are faced with situations that are beyond our control when we are MCs at an event.Because being that MC, anything could happen. What was unexpected was what happened even though we had been as well prepared as possible.Whether it's suddenly, the lights go out while on stage, the audience looks like they're not enthusiastic about the event, or a sudden change in the MC's schedule. What's even more exciting is that each student was asked to come to the front of the class to simulate being an MC for an event with out-of-control conditions as mentioned previously. So directly, we as students are really put into real situations that usually occur in the MC world.
At the end of the class, the teacher reviews each student and shares what solutions an MC can take to deal with these problems.Because actually there are many more unexpected events that could possibly happen, we as MCs must take the initiative and be creative. This is what I remember most from the Encounter. In my opinion, things like this cannot necessarily be found in other places because every practitioner always shares his experiences so that we, who are still laymen, can imagine and empathize with what it would be like if we were in their position.
Actually, I was sad because I was at the last Encounter and still wanted to take another TALKINC class. The thing that makes me sad and will miss it is the teachers who are extraordinarily enthusiastic about teaching the students. They are fun to discuss and share with to become professional MCs.They have positive spirit and energy so that we as students are motivated to become cool MCs.Apart from that, every time you set foot in TALKINC, the security guards and Talk-Inc guards are very friendly. Moreover, Mas Taufik and Mbak Nicky are very helpful when asked via Whatsapp regarding classes.
