Body Language is a favorite material in Public Speaking classes
Evelyn Suryowibowo – Kelas Professional Public Speaking Batch 44 tahun 2015
My name is Evelyn Suryowibowo.I am a participant in the Professional Program: Public Speaking class, batch 44 (9 May – 4 July 2015).Taking the Public Speaking class at TalkInc was a very useful and challenging experience, because I was invited to become aware of how to speak in public, perceived shortcomings, and ways to overcome them.Personally, my goal in taking this class is to convey messages in a more structured manner, in an interesting and expressive style, and what is no less important, leave a positive impression on the audience.Of the entire learning process, the most impressive material was about Body Language (Encounter 5, 13 June 2015)
Kegiatan Kelas Professional Public Speaking Batch 44 tahun 2015
In this class, I learned that, apparently, I was implementing the wrong strategy.During this time, I focus on what I want to convey.I spend my time on presentation slides, processing words so that they are easily understood by the audience. But I just realized that the words that I really pay attention to only have a 7% effect on the audience's reception of the material.Meanwhile, the remaining 56% comes from body language, 38% from voice (including intonation and pace). At this meeting, I was taught to be more expressive, both in eye contact, smiling (which is important for maintaining a positive mood and image), standing postures that make us comfortable, as well as hand and body movements (moving, but there must always be a purpose in the movement).Even though Body Language is still a challenge, I hope to see changes in myself after taking the Public Speaking class at TalkInc.
