Metode public speaking
Public Speaking has several methods, each method has advantages and disadvantages, which of course can be adjusted to suit each person's personal comfort. The following are Public Speaking methods that are familiar among Public Speakers:
1. Manuscript or Manuscript Method
The manuscript is written and contains what will be conveyed to the public.Public Speakers will develop ideas in word order, sentences and paragraphs.Opening and closing are also included in the manuscript. This method is used by Public Speakers who are required to convey something that requires high precision, such as during speeches on political matters, announcements of cabinet reshuffles, etc.
Weaknesses of this method:
The Public Speaker was unable to adapt to the situation during the event.
Communication between the speaker and the audience will more often become one-way communication.
The speaker will stick to the script, so it becomes stiff.
Strengths of this method:
The material will be presented in a complete and structured manner.
There will be no forgotten segments because they have been written in full.
2. Memorization Method
This method is more or less the same as reading a script. The script is not read aloud but memorized first. When memorizing a script, the script can only be memorized if the script is short and must be read repeatedly consistently. On this occasion, the speaker can improvise, but the main content is.
Strengths of this method:
Minimal errors if the script is truly mastered.
The speaker will find it easier to use body language, such as using more eye contact.
Disadvantages of this method:
Speakers tend to speak without understanding.
If you forget one of the words from the script, the speech can fail.
3. Spontaneity Method
The speaker does not prepare a script or prepare a script for the event. The speaker only thinks about what topic will be discussed.
Strengths of this method:
It's more interesting, especially if you use a lot of improvisation.
Weaknesses of this method:
There is a possibility that it will not go smoothly because there is no preparation.
