Part 2: Communication tips based on 4 personality types

In the previous article, it was known that there were four personality types (Choleric, Sanguine, Melancholic, Phlegmatic) which were discussed.TALKINC simplifies the use of words by changing the terminology of the four personality types to Strong, Agile, Detailed, and Peaceful.At the Understanding People workshop held by TALKINC Surabaya (03/09), Erwin Parengkuan as Facilitator emphasized that the way to communicate with these four personality types cannot be the same.If your view of how to communicate with the person you are talking to is the same as the other person you are talking to, then it is likely that it will be difficult to achieve the goal in the communication interaction between you and the person you are talking to.The following is TALKINC's explanation of the communication patterns of several personalities and what each type should do when communicating:

• The Strong Type has the nature of liking challenges, responsibility, assertiveness, and target orientation.The strong person's communication pattern tends to be persistent and dominating, making it difficult to get input from other people.Therefore, strong types must communicate with 'respect' and adjust the way they communicate when in a team to be more part of a team without always having to dominate.

• Tipe Gesit memiliki kecenderungan sifat yang extrovert, periang, kreatif, inovatif, friendly, dan percaya diri. Dibalik sifatnya yang menyenangkan, tipe kepribadian ini sering melakukan tindakan yang ceroboh seperti contohnya berbicara ceplas-ceplos. Agar interaksi komunikasi tipe gesit lebih baik, maka yang perlu diperhatikan adalah mulai membiasakan untuk berpikir sebelum berbicara, menyampaikan kalimat dengan jelas dan terstruktur. Jika perlu, tipe Gesit harus membuat poin-poin permbicaraan agar apa yang disampaikan adalah informasi yang benar-benar penting untuk disampaikan kepada lawan bicaranya.

• The Detailed Type is included in the introvert group.This detailed type has very sensitive feelings and really likes to be alone.Detailed types also tend to like to keep the problems they have and also tend to see problems from a negative side because of their critical mindset.The characteristics of the detailed type are analytical, perfectionist, thinker, serious, diligent, and organized.TALKINC's advice for detailed types in communicating with the person they are talking to is to explain the essence of the conversation, dare to express opinions, and reduce explanations that are too detailed.

• Lastly, the phlegmatic personality type or TALKINC calls it the Peace type, including closed personalities (introverts).Introverts are people who are oriented within themselves (inward thinking).Introvert types are interested in the world of ideas, thoughts, concepts, so introverts really like a quiet atmosphere to be alone to think or do activities.The Peaceful Type is sociable, calm, avoids conflict, and is always a good listener.This sociable, peaceful type doesn't really dare to speak in public to show expression and tends to be shy.So, this peaceful type must have the courage to speak, be active or get involved in discussions to convey ideas, and never be embarrassed to convey ideas and not be afraid of making mistakes.
