The Importance of Negotiation Techniques (negotiation skills) in the Professional World

Departing from this definition, I argue that negotiation skills ornegotation skillsis a very important skill for everyone involved in the professional world to have.On the Queensland government website, it is stated that in business, negotiation skills are very important both in informal daily interactions and formal transactions such as sales conditions, contracts, service delivery and other legal contracts.

Negotiation is a skill that is very closely related to communication, because if we relate it back to the existing definition, interaction is vital in reaching an agreement. The importance of negotiation skills can also be interpreted as the importance of knowing the right communication techniques to reach the desired agreement.

In the next series of articles, I will explain the facts about negotiations in the realm of communication science.First of all, I would like to convey the types of communication in the negotiation process, namely:

a.Passive

Passive communication types will tend to use ambiguous and unclear language. This type of communication gives the communicator the impression of being insecure and resigned.

b.Aggressive

This type of aggressive communication is more confrontational than two-way communication, so the communicator tends to appear to be 'ignoring the other party'.

c. Asertif

The assertive communication type will tend to be realistic and considerate towards both parties. This type of communication emits a communicator who seems confident and understands the material.
These three types of communication are the most common due to both internal and external factors. In the next discussion, I will discuss 5 communication strategies in negotiations.
