Professional Public Speaking – Batch 84: Self-development to become a greater individual

Participating in the TALKINC program is one of the things I have been targeting since 2019. At that time I was waiting to graduate from college and was undergoing an internship at a creative agency.At that time, I saw the MC and moderator directly at various events involving the creative agency where I was an intern, which gave me the desire to improve my public speaking skills.With this desire, I hope that one day I can also stand on stage like a professional MC and moderator like I usually see.

Based on the recommendation of one of my colleagues at the internship, TALKINC became my choice to start developing myself and my communication skills.However, I had to postpone this desire until 2023 because I wanted to find a time where I could fully commit and focus in class.Because classes are held every Saturday, I make the most of mapping out my work so it doesn't interfere with my attendance in class and choose offline meetings.

TALKINC has several class programs that you can follow so I was quite confused, because previously I thought about choosing the MC &Program Moderator.However, after considering it based on current job demands, I finally enrolled in the Offline Professional Public Speaking class batch 84. In my opinion, it is very important to solidify the basic –basics in public speaking so that whatever role you will play later it will be easier (not limited to MC & Moderator).

Dari semua materi yang diberikan, materi favorite saya adalah “When Things Gone Bad, How to Handle the Audience” yang dibawakan oleh Mas Imam Wibowo sebagai fasilitator. Berkilas pada pengalaman membawakan presentasi di pekerjaan, banyak sekali momen-momen yang saya rasa dapat dikatakan sebagai “out of the box”. Mulai dari kesalahan teknis hingga pertanyaan di sesi tanya jawab yang membuat saya tidak berkutik. Dari momen – momen tersebut saya belajar bahwa kita tidak sekadar “presentasi lalu selesai” namun banyak hal yang perlu kita antisipasi agar presentasi yang kita bawakan berkesan dan diterima dengan baik oleh audiens mulai dari awal pembukaan presentasi hingga menutup sesi tanya jawab.

After attending class –TALKINC class, I understand my own strengths and weaknesses and I consider this as the beginning of my personal development journey to become an even greater individual, both personally and professionally.I would like to thank all the TALKINC facilitators who have shared their knowledge and answered my curiosity regarding public speaking.My next target, hopefully I can join back in the MC &Program Moderator
